DESIGN & HISTORY

Graphic Design answers to content, but what if the
content is Graphic Design itself?

The assignment proposes to create a graphic project
that explores diverse visual languages, references and associations used among areas of knowledge that lie outside the design field as subject matter, in this
case History.

The process involves researching structural aspects of History – what are their conceptual roles and function as intellectual explorations to communicate – and, some of
the forms of visual representation that they
traditionally employ.

The final outcome of this project is a collection of articles, overlapped news, magazines from old archives. Aims to question what do we really know about our collective history, if not just versions of stories overlapped. Therefore layer after layer was added to redirect the viewers attention to a new chosen History. The presented works were later displayed in a collective exhibition by students from the Master in Communication Design at ESAD, Porto.
